US Envoy for Western Balkans visits Kosovo amid rising tensions with Serbia | NEWSRUX

The US Particular Envoy for the Western Balkans has visited Pristina to fulfill with Kosovo leaders, a day after Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated he would ask the NATO-led peacekeeping drive in Kosovo to permit the deployment of 1,000 Serb troops within the Serb-populated north of Kosovo.

Kosovo, which was once a part of Serbia, fought a struggle in opposition to Belgrade in 1998-1999, and ultimately declared independence in 2008, a transfer shortly endorsed by the US, the UK and most main European powers however rejected by the Serbs and their ally Russia.

For a 3rd day on December 12, vehicles and different heavy-duty automobiles blocked a number of primary roads main to 2 border crossings with Serbia. Each crossings have been closed to site visitors.

Authorities say it’s unimaginable to cross the Jarinje and Bernjak border crossing factors both on foot or by automobile. 

The US embassies in Pristina and Belgrade stated in a joint assertion that Washington “expresses deep concern in regards to the present state of affairs within the north of Kosovo.”
